Queenstown: Mount Cook Premium Guided Day Tour
234 ReviewsDiscover the wonders of Mount Cook on a full-day tour from Queenstown. Enjoy a guided scenic tour to Mt Cook and 3.5 hours of free time to explore Aoraki National Park on your own.
The Public Kitchen & Bar prides itself on a sociable dining experience in a homely atmosphere. Overlooking Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables, the restaurant offers good, honest kiwi fare with hearty home-grown dishes, cooked from locally sourced ingredients.
Both owner and chef Martin James and chef Stephen Clayton, veteran restaurateurs in Queenstown, have stepped back from their fine dining expertise to focus on 'grass-roots' cooking in an environment that has an organic gastro-pub feel.
The interior, with the large tables and curious decorations are a mixture of South Island paraphernalia and relics of Queenstown's yesteryear that exude a sociable vibe; from the swinging bird-cage on the ceiling to the red New Zealand telephone box doors that double up as one of the entrances to the restaurant.
The menu presents a great selection of venison, chicken, pork, beef, seafood and vegetarian dishes. A range of 'snacks' and 'sweet treats' can also be enjoyed. The wine card is proudly Otago-based, with a number of international tipples on offer to suit every palate.
Dietary requirements can be catered for.
