Brennan Wines
Queenstown
Take along a picnic, pick up a bottle from the tasting room and spend a few hours enjoying the gorgeous setting and of course, the wine.
Situated in the vineyard sub-region of Gibbston, the cellar door location of Brennan Wines is in a truly stunning setting.
In the winter, patrons can sample elegant wines by the open fire and gaze out at snow-capped mountains from the warm interior of the converted shed. When the winter sun permits it, and during the hot Central Otago summer days, the dramatic views can be enjoyed outdoors in the picnic area which is decked out with picnic tables and cherry blossom trees. The Pétanque court is a quirky addition to Brennan Wines and provides some leisurely-paced fun.
The artful skill of winemaker Sean Brennan is evident not only in his award-winning wines, but also in his carefully thought out objective to produce iconic wines by limiting the production; making them doubly appealing for the wine connoisseur.
Wine is snapped up by the case and when it's gone, it's gone, paving the way for its next celebrated successor.
Despite the relatively high-brow status of Brennan Wines, they are by no means exclusive and, unusually for a vineyard, they place a big emphasis on homeliness and family. Friendly resident dog, Millie is very much a fixture and the play area means that families with children are very much welcome.
