Description
Embark on a 4WD safari featuring dramatic scenery and key Lord of the Rings filming sites including Minas Tirith, Misty Mountains, the Pillars of the Kings (Argonath), Gladden Fields, and the Ford of Bruinen.
After pick-up, travel around the Wakatipu Basin to see The Remarkables, the backdrop for several mountains in the films. Journey partway up Queenstown Hill for views over Deer Park Heights, the location for the refugees of Rohan and the Battle of the Wargs. Next, visit Kawarau Gorge, where the Argonath scenes were filmed.
Continue to Arrowtown, known for the Gladden Fields scene depicting the loss of The One Ring. Experience an off-road drive along a historic gold mining road following the Arrow River, crossing several times to reach the Ford of Bruinen. Here, enjoy afternoon tea and try gold panning in the river.
The tour concludes with a visit to Skippers Canyon entrance, providing panoramic views of the Wakatipu Basin and the canyon itself.
