Established in 1863, the hotel is one of New Zealand's oldest, and full of character with the local history displayed prominently in the bar and lounge area. The rear gardens are a seclued oasis and a place to relax. There are plenty of tables to enjoy a cold beer and a spot of food. A small playground will help keep small children entertained.
The menu includes burgers, Merino Lamb, pork spare ribs, prime eye fillet steak, a choice of platter dishes to share, soup and salads. A childrens menu is also available.
During the winter season, the roaring log fire inside is a welcome treat for skiiers to enjoy a few drinks after a day on the slopes at the nearby Cardrona Ski Resort.
On the accommodation side, there are 16 rooms that reflect the period charm of the building, with nightly rates including a continental breakfast.
