Gibbston Valley Cave and Winery Tours

Gibbston Valley Winery offers a range of cave and winery tours to suit every taste.

Learn about the history of the region, and how Alan Brady became the first winemaker to develop a commercial wine from this soil, over 25 years ago. Stand in the amazing wine cave, the country's largest, which was blasted out of thousands of tonnes of schist (gold rock) in order to create the perfect, natural environment in which to store and age Gibbston's famous wines. A constant temperature of between 12-14℃ ensures that Gibbston Valley's latest releases are matured to perfection, and you can see where this is done first-hand.

The Gibbston Valley Wine Cave can also be hired out for private functions and tastings, as well as for weddings (one of the most unique venues you'll find anywhere), and other special occasions.

Cave Tour
Informative and fun, visiting the wine cave is a must-do activity to experience wine in Central Otago. Starting in the beautiful and historic Home Block Vineyard, originally planted by the founder and wine pioneer Alan Brady in 1983, you'll take a walk through the vines and down to the wine cave, through its imposing set of wooden doors, where you'll be instantly transfixed by the sight of over 300 barrels of Pinot Noir lining the walls. The tour finishes with a tasting of three varietals in the cave.

Winery Tour
Join for a relaxed informative 45-minute tour of the vineyard, winery and wine cave. You will be taken through the oldest vines in Central Otago, learn about the winemaking process and go inside New Zealand's largest wine cave where you can enjoy four tastings of their award-winning wines. For Health and Safety reasons - no children under 16 are allowed on the Winery tour.


Pricing:
Cave Tour - $19.50 per person, allow 30 minutes, available daily 10am, 11am, 1pm, 2pm & 3pm Monday-Sunday.
Winery Tour - $35 per person, allow 45 minutes, available twice daily 12.00pm & 4.00pm, Monday-Sunday.
