Mt Difficulty Winery
Queenstown
As the restaurant is very popular and seating availability may be weather-dependent, it is recommended that you make a reservation.
Stop by Mt Difficulty, one of Central Otago's major vineyards for a tasting, lunch and to enjoy the extraordinary view.
Mt Difficulty is an award winning winery in the rugged Central Otago region. With some of the oldest vines in the area, Mt Difficulty is able to produce some of the world's tastiest and most complex Pinot Noirs.
In addition to the regions most famous varietal, the hot, dry climate and clay and gravel soils produce some world-class bottles of Pinot Gris, Riesling and Chardonnay.
The Cellar Door at Mt Difficulty is the best place to sample the wines. A range of Mt Difficulty and Roaring Meg wines are available to try. With knowledgeable staff pouring the wines, you can learn about the wines, the winery and the Central Otago area as you taste. Be sure to take a minute and admire the stunning landscape from the contemporary venue.
Mt Difficulty also operates a restaurant that is open daily for lunch. With seating on the outdoor terrace, you will be hard pressed to find a lunch venue with a more majestic view.
The menu offers hearty meals and platters that showcase high quality local ingredients as well as the skill and creativity of the chef. The Mt Difficulty Platter is a favourite for sharing or even as an entree. Your waiter can recommend the perfect pairing for each meal, or you can choose your own wine from the tasting counter.
