Queenstown: Arrowtown To Queenstown Biking Adventure
151 ReviewsExplore the scenic bike trails between Arrowtown and Queenstown with a regular bike or e-bike rental. Take in the alpine scenery on a 35-km-long route that follows rivers and lakes.
A pretty, remote and little-known area, Lake Johnson is off the beaten track with no marked walking trails or activities on offer. This is more of a place to enjoy your own company and silence and explore one of the less visited lakes in the Queenstown area.
Fishing enthusiasts are drawn to the lake hoping to catch some of the trout while others simply enjoy taking in the scenic views during a walk to the lake.
Signposted off the main road, State Highway 6, at Frankton, and more or less opposite the Queenstown Events Centre, you will need to head along the unsealed road for just under one kilometre. It is at this point that you will need to park your car, climb over the small gate and then walk for a few hundred metres until you see the lake.
Lake Johnson does not disappoint. Being off the beaten track, you'll be able to enjoy the lake views to youself and gain some quiet seclusion before heading back into the hustle and bustle of Queenstown.
