Description
Depart from Wonderland Makarora Lodge for a 25-minute scenic flight with Southern Alps Air over the Southern Alps, within the World Heritage-listed Mt Aspiring National Park. Enjoy views of glaciers, waterfalls, and lakes before landing in the remote Siberia Valley, deep inside the rugged wilderness.
After a pilot briefing, embark on a 7km unguided hike through native rainforest and river valleys. The well-marked Department of Conservation track takes about 2.5 to 3 hours with moderate fitness required, including uphill and downhill sections. This route leads to the serene Wilkin Valley immersing you in raw natural surroundings.
The final section is a 30-minute jetboat ride along the braided Wilkin River back to Makarora, operated by Wilkin River Jets. Extended flight options and overnight stays at Siberia Hut are also available. Times may vary, with the full experience returning to Wonderland Lodge approximately 4 hours after boarding.
