Central Otago Farmers' market is a seasonal market that begins every Labour Weekend in November and runs every Sunday until the end of February. The market is open from 9.00am to 1.00pm.
Taking place in Old Cromwell Town Historic Precinct , amongst the historically recreated buildings from the gold mining era, stallholders from the Central Otago region sell a range of farm-fresh and freshly picked produce.
Handmade jams and chutneys from locally grown fruit are a highlight with inspired combination flavours like Apricot and Walnut or Nectarine and Ginger. Merino cuts, local cheeses, venison salami, herbs, fresh flowers, frozen fish and even the New Zealand delicacy of muttonbirds are also on sale.
Live music and a compact market area create a welcoming and friendly atmosphere to enjoy meeting local artists and the local community.
After the market, visitors can enjoy exploring the numerous orchards for freshly picked fruit and sample some award winning wines at the vineyards dotted around the town.
