Shotover Jet invites thrill seekers to try 'The World's Most Exciting Jet Boating Ride' - a high-speed jet boat ride through Shotover River Canyons.
Operating since 1965, Shotover Jet has earned its reputation as a must-do activity in Queenstown. Their world famous jet boats can navigate shallow waters at extremely high speeds - up to 85kph with as little as 10cm of water below.
Shotover Jet is the only jet boat company allowed to operate through the dramatic Shotover River Canyons. Carved out of stone by tonnes of water over the course of thousands of years, the steep walls of the canyon add to the sense of adventure as 'Big Red' speeds through the canyon.
Every one of Shotover Jet's pilots has been hired for a combination of personality and driving ability. Pilots have also been trained with more than 120 hours of river driving before carrying any passengers, so guests can sit back and enjoy the ride, knowing they're in good hands.
The ride begins at Shotover Jet's River Base on Gorge Road. A free shuttle service connects the base to the centre of Queenstown. Even though boats leave often, it pays to book ahead and avoid disappointment.
