Eco Wanaka Guided Walks
Wanaka
The trek requires reasonable fitness and participants should wear comfortable shoes or boots and bring a small backpack with them.
One of the best ways to enjoy the Wanaka region is on foot, and the experienced guides of Eco Wanaka Adventures can help visitors get the most from their walks. Their guided walks include the services of a guide, transport to and from the walks and lunch (Lunch not included on the Outlet Track Walk)
Diamond Lake / Rocky Mountain
Eco Wanaka Adventures also offers a full day guided trip to the top of Rocky Mountain near Diamond Lake for those wanting more of a challenge. The walk includes some very beautiful scenery along the way as you pass through bluff forests with Fantails and Bellbirds to be spotted on the way. At the summit of Rocky Mountain there are amazing 360 degree views of the Matukituki valley with Mt Aspiring and the world heritage Southern Alps and Lake Wanaka and its islands. In places the track can be a little steep but easy enough if you take your time. More Info.
Rob Roy Glacier Guided Walk
The day begins with a scenic drive around Lake Wanaka, and into the Matukituki valley driving through several fords, stopping for photos along the way. From here, the 10km guided walk begins through farmland with sheep and cattle, and then across a swing bridge into the alpine rainforest to emerge above the treeline into the alpine herb fields opposite four glacier faces – a perfect lunch spot and a base for further exploration of this magical valley, the jewel of Mt Aspiring National Park. Swing bridge, waterfalls, rainforest, crystal clear mountain streams and glaciers - the Rob Roy Glacier guided Walk has it all! More Info.
Blue Pools & Bridle Track Guided Walk
This combination of walks is definitely a highlight of the Haast Pass - in World Heritage Mt. Aspiring National Park. We firstly visit the gravelled path to the Blue Pools which gives easy walking access through the Beech rainforest. Boardwalks and netting complete the walk to a viewing platform of the pools where we may see large Brown and Rainbow Trout feeding in the crystal blue water. We then have lunch at Cameron Flat, with commanding views over the Makarora River to the glaciated panorama of the Southern Alps. After lunch we travel up the valley and from Davis Flat we follow the Bridle track on the original and horse only access that once was all that served the West Coast people and their livestock. More info.
Outlet Track Guided Walk
For visitors who prefer an easier walk, there is the Outlet Walk available. The Mighty Clutha River Outlet Track is an easy walking track near Wanaka Township. The track is suitable for walkers of all ages, and offers good scenic views. After pick up from Wanaka accommodation, we proceed to Albert Town where the walk begins. (Note: Trip is 2.5hrs in duration and does not include lunch). More info.
