Wooing Tree is a romantic, family-run vineyard in Cromwell, famed for making delectable wines. The winery features a tasting room, function room and a sandpit for the kids. The place is famous for the 'Wooing Tree', which has become the site of many a marriage proposal!
The Wooing Tree Vineyard was set up in 2001 by Stephen Farquharson and his wife, Thea, in partnership with his sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Geoff Bews. The winery is particularly noted for its delicious Pinot Noir. Visitors can enjoy light lunches indoors, or al fresco on the beautiful decking and lawns. Grown ups will really love the stunning scenery of the rolling vineyards, while the kids will adore the slide and sandpit.
The Wooing Tree Vineyard is built around the eponymous tree, which has been a local icon for centuries. Here, courting couples would come to be alone, and it's even rumoured that quite a few Cromwellians were conceived underneath its branches! Since the vineyard has taken over its upkeep, it remains a popular site for marriage proposals. It's no surprise, then, to find out that Wooing Tree Vineyard itself is a popular wedding and function venue. How much more romantic could a place get?
Please visit the Wooing Tree Vineyard website for more information on the different wines on offer.
