Description

Begin your journey at Lake Tekapo, known for its turquoise waters and stunning beauty. Continue to Lake Pukaki, where you'll catch your first glimpses of Mt Cook towering in the distance. Stop at a viewpoint to take photos of the mountain with the lake and winding roads in the foreground. Next, head to Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park. Enjoy approximately 2 hours of free time to explore. Choose from free walks or hikes, or opt for extra activities like scenic flights with glacier landings. Drive through the Mackenzie district, spotting Merino sheep and passing through the quaint township of Omarama, known for its glider flights. Climb in altitude to Lindis Pass, one of only three alpine roads through the Southern Alps. Stop at the Lindis Pass lookout, 971 meters above sea level, for breathtaking views and photos. Follow Lake Dunstan into the Cromwell basin, a historic gold mining town now famous for its stone fruit. Depending on the season, enjoy cherry blossoms, rich autumn colors, or delicious seasonal fruits. Wind through the Kawarau Gorge, stopping at the wild blue river rapids known as the Roaring Meg for a brief photo op. Continue toward the Gibston Valley, one of New Zealand's top wine regions. Finally, arrive in Queenstown, nestled between Lake Wakatipu and the surrounding mountains. As you enter this alpine town, your guide will point out some of the area's highlights before dropping you off at your central accommodation.
