Itinerary
Day 1: Depart Christchurch by TranzAlpine Scenic Train to Arthur’s Pass. Explore Arthur's Pass National Park with walks such as Devil's Punchbowl or Arthur's Pass Track. Visit Castle Hill's limestone rock formations and stop at Lake Lyndon en route to Lake Tekapo. Overnight in Lake Tekapo with evening stargazing in the Dark Sky Reserve.
Day 2: Visit the Church of the Good Shepherd and take a walk by Lake Tekapo. Proceed to Lake Pukaki and Aoraki Mount Cook, with options to hike the Hooker Valley Track or Tasman Glacier View Track. Travel through Lindis Pass and arrive in Queenstown for overnight stay.
Day 3: From Queenstown, choose a cruise on Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound. Milford route includes stops at Eglinton Flats, Mirror Lakes, Hollyford Valley Lookout, and Monkey Creek. Doubtful Sound cruise includes crossing Lake Manapouri and passing over Wilmot Pass. Return by scenic drive to Te Anau for overnight.
Day 4: Visit Te Anau Glowworm Caves to see blue bioluminescent glowworms, then return scenic drive to Queenstown, concluding the tour.
