Description
All flights depart from Aspiring Helicopters hangar, a stunning 25min scenic drive from Wanaka township towards Mt Aspiring National Park. Take to the skies like an Eagle and appreciate a birds-eye-view of dramatic and diverse “Lord of the Rings” inspired landscapes. This fight takes in rugged peaks and deep glacial carved valleys along the spine of the Southern Alps. You’ll see the start of the famous “Shotover River” and experience a high-altitude landing on a giant “river of ice”. There are nearly 300 glaciers in our region and we can land on either the Isobel or Tyndall glacier. Both have spectacular views over the Southern Alps. On your 10minute stop take the time to breathe the crisp mountain air, have a snowball fight, make a snow angel and capture the moments on camera. All our pilots are happy to take snap shots for you and most are pretty competent with a camera!
