Description

Begin in Te Anau, beside New Zealand’s second-largest lake. After a brief introduction, travel to Te Anau Downs, the Milford Track starting point, to hear local stories and admire lake views.

Enter Fiordland National Park and visit Eglinton Valley, featuring glacier-carved landscapes. Then, take a short walk to Mirror Lakes where the Earl Mountains reflect perfectly on calm waters.

Next, stop at Lake Gunn, a tranquil alpine lake ideal for photos and quiet reflection. Continue along the Hollyford River, pausing at Falls Creek to see a powerful waterfall.

As you ascend the Darran Mountains, enjoy expansive views and watch for the alpine parrot called the Kea. Pass through the hand-carved Homer Tunnel and emerge to Milford Sound’s dramatic scenery, including hundreds of temporary waterfalls on rainy days.
