Description
Begin at Dunedin Railway Station, an iconic example of Edwardian architecture and one of New Zealand’s most photographed buildings. After ticket collection, board the Taieri Gorge Train for a scenic journey through soaring viaducts, rugged gorges, and remote high country landscapes.
Disembark at Pukerangi, where your guide will meet you for the next leg of the trip in a luxury Mercedes-Benz small group vehicle. Visit the ghost town of St Bathans, featuring preserved streets and the Blue Lake, a surreal site formed by historic gold mining. Continue to the 1880-built suspension bridge in Ophir, which crosses the Manuherikia River and demonstrates 19th-century Otago engineering.
