クライドダムは、ニュージーランド最大のコンクリート重力ダムであり、クラス川のエネルギーを活用した印象的な構造物です。
クイーンズタウンから車で約1時間の中部オタゴに位置し、1989年から2000年にかけて建設されました。建設中、ダムの工事には1200人以上の労働者が携わっていました。
ダムの建設には100万立方メートルのコンクリートが使用され、発電所の建設にはさらに20万立方メートルのコンクリートが使用されました。
美しい中部オタゴの景色の背景にあるクライドダムは、高さ100メートル、底部幅70メートルの構造を見る価値があります。
ダムの近くには、魅力的な歴史的な町であるクライドがあります。クラス川のほとりに位置するこの小さな町には、趣のある建物や数多くのカフェやレストランがあります。クライドは、150kmのオタゴセントラルレールトレイルの出発点でもあります。
