クイーンズタウンから10キロメートル離れた(ハイウェイ6号から)、1871年に建設された旧ローワーショトーバーブリッジは、歩行者にショトーバーリバーの360度のパノラマを眺めることができます。

オリジナルの橋は1878年に洪水で流されましたが、公共事業省によって再建され、1915年に再オープンしました。橋は172メートルの長さで、川から16メートルの高さに立っています。

歩行者は、レマーカブルズダブルコーンピーク（2319m）、セシルピーク（1978m）、コロネットピーク（1651m）、ブラウピーク（1456m）を含むショトーバーリバーや周辺の山々のパノラマを楽しむことができます。

橋は商業用ジェットボートの観光船の観光プラットフォームとしても機能し、その下を通過するスリル満点の観光旅行を提供します。 K-Jetはクイーンズタウンのマリンパレード地区から運行しており、カワラウ川とショトーバーリバー沿いに1時間のジェットボートツアーを提供しており、橋の下を通ってこの象徴的な構造物を異なる視点でご覧いただけます。

ショトーバーリバーの浅い水域は、ワカティプ湖のフランクトンアームから水を引くカワラウ川に注がれます。
