ベンディゴ歴史保存地は、地域の鉱業史の遺物を保存するために現在、自然保護局によって維持されています。

金は表面近くおよび後に地下深くで見つかったため、19世紀後半にはまだ地域で活動があり、元の鉱山サイトから多くのアイテムが残っています。

バッテリーサイトからの多くの原初の基礎は、採掘が停止したときに放棄された場所で今もそのままです。

訪問者は、花崗岩質が非常に深い一部の放棄された鉱山シャフトに注意を払う必要がありますが、保存地を自由に歩くことができます。

歴史的な鉱山サイトに隣接する風光明媚な保護地では、クルーサ盆地とその地域のぶどう園や農地の素晴らしい景色を楽しむことができます。

保存地へのメインエントランスは、ダンスタン湖の近くのクリッペルタウンの州道8号線からです。駐車場に向かう途中、ベンディゴの町の遺跡、校舎の廃墟、ローガンタウンやウェルズタウンの遺跡を探索する時間を取りましょう。メインの駐車場はウェルズタウンにあり、ここを過ぎて車両は進入できません。地域の歴史や採掘作業を説明する情報パネルのいくつかを読む時間を取ってください。

Thomson Gorge Roadからもサイトにアクセスでき、多くの歴史的なサイトを通過します。この道は四輪駆動車のトラックであり、天候が良い場合にのみ試みるべきです。
