Walking the 4 Barrels Wine Trail

Food & Drink Inspiration

A must do walking trail for wine lovers visiting Central Otago

For wine enthusiasts, there is a great self-guided walking trail that offers gorgeous scenery and four wineries to visit, less than an hour's drive from Queenstown.

The 4 Barrels Wine Trail is a pleasant  way to spend a few hours soaking up the Central Otago landscape along with premium wines on foot.  Situated in Cromwell, the eight-kilometre loop trail, winds its way alongside Lake Dunstan and pretty orchards while winding past four wineries - Aurum Wines, Misha's Vineyard, Scott Base and Wooing Tree Vineyard

The walk is a chance to enjoy some of the region's famous pinot noir along with pinot gris, rose, Chardonnay and sauvignon blanc.  During the walk there are plenty of scenic spots to relax and picnic or better still, save your lunch stop for one of the tasting rooms.

Each tasting room charges a tasting fee which ranges from $5 to $10 but this fee is waivered when purchasing a wine bottle.

Getting There:

The trail begins from the i-SITE on Murray Terrace, leading onto Misha's Vineyard first, before continuing along the shores of Lake Dunstan and the three other wineries.
