With four wine growing regions all within an hour's drive of Queenstown, there are plenty of wineries and cellar doors to visit. Central Otago is a world renowned region for Pinot Noir and is home to a number of award winning wines.

The landscape of this region, characterised by mountains and gorges, creates a large variation in temperature. Along with the wildly varying topography this gives rise to many micro-climates and soil variations with each wine growing region producing very separate and distinct wine.

Immigrants Vineyard

Immigrant's Vineyard overlooks the Clutha River and Old Man Range and is one of the most southern vineyards in the world, between Alexandra and Clyde. Owned and operated by Roland and Lucienne van der Wal since 2013, Immigrant's Vineyard comprises of 19 hectares of land, with 16 hectares planted in mainly Pinot Noir grapes and 4 hectares of Pinot Gris, plus a small amount of Gewürztraminer and Chardonnay.
