Remarkable Wines
Queenstown
Boutique winery offering unique guided wine tours and even the opportunity to make your own wine. Cafe, wine bar, tasting room, outdoor BBQ area. Very friendly, personal service.
Remarkable Wines sits in the heart of the Gibbston Valley, just half and hour from Queenstown. Sitting on the site of the original Gibbston Hotel (which burned down in 1912), the winery offers a truly unique experience for any wine lover.
Harvest time is April, so if you come then, you'll be given the opportunity to make your own wine. You'll be guided around the vineyard, then asked to select your own grapes.
Later, with the help of the onsite expert wine makers, you'll crush and press your grapes, thus starting the fermentation process. Then, you'll be able to design a personal label for your 'vintage', and when the wine is ready, it will be delivered to you. You'll also receive a fantastic photo album documenting your wine making journey.
Owner Richard Guthrey, is dedicated not only to producing award-winning Pinot Noirs, but ensuring that every one of his visitors gets the full Gibbston Valley experience. Onsite, you'll find the delicious Stables Cafe and wine bar, plus a fantastic outdoor barbecue area. Guests can purchase a meat pack and cook up their own feast, best served, obviously, alongside some very palatable Remarkable wine.
Remarkable Wines also offers space for campervans to pitch. In addition, there's a shuttle service between the winery and the Gibbston River Trail (at the bungy jump), for those who want to make a day of exploring this beautiful area.
