Kelvin Heights

Our guide to the scenic Kelvin Heights Peninsula

Kelvin Heights is a residential area, 5 minutes drive from Frankton and 20 minutes from the centre of Queenstown.  With a world-class golf course, wonderful views of Lake Wakatipu and a greater share of the sunshine than many other areas in Queenstown, it's also a popular spot for holiday homes.

Kelvin Heights Peninsula can be reached by a short water taxi ride or a 15 minute drive from the centre of Queenstown.  The Peninsula is an inviting spot for picnics and attracts walkers, cyclists and golfers who are drawn by the secluded and impressive views.

The Kelvin Peninsula Trail is a 90 minute trail that winds around Lake Wakatipu and provides you with beautiful views of the Remarkables, Queenstown, the Skyline Gondola and Queenstown Hill. During the walk, you'll pass by the yacht club and the iconic Kelvin Heights Golf Course.
Cyclists and runners may prefer to take on the longer Jack's Point Trail which includes a lovely cafe restaurant at the Jack's Point Golf Club at the end of the trail.

Kelvin Heights Golf Course is one of the most photogenic golf courses in the world.  With views of the lake and mountains, every hole is a memorable moment.  Non-members are welcome, with club and golf cart hire available.

Ir's also one for the few golf courses where you can arrive by water taxi.  They depart from Steamer Wharf in Queenstown.
