Join top Kiwi comedians Paul Ego and Justine Smith as they venture south to visit some of their favourite southern destinations.
Paul Ego is a returning success of the Kiwi comedy scene and has been described as 'NZ's Top Professional Comedian' and 'The Master of Improv'. Best known as a team leader on TV's '7DAYS' and as the voice of a large yellow supermarket, Ego is also a former Billy T Award winner.
Ego said living 'north of the wall', as he did, tended to make him feel safe, yet isolated from real life. 'Yes, there are more cocktails up here, and even the ones without tails, but I think we all know that the heart of New Zealand beats strongest in the South. I can't wait to help open the facial laugh holes of many of the fine people of the big island, so I hope they're ready for a comedy cavity search,' he said.
Having also won the Billy T Award, the NZ Comedy Guild Best Female Comedian (twice) and the NZCG Best MC (also twice), Justine Smith has well and truly showcased herself as one of the key players in New Zealand Comedy and is also incredibly excited to head around the south.
'I'm from the beautiful South Island so I always love coming home. There are some pretty grim happenings in the world at the moment, so the ability to laugh at the horror or escape the thought of all the horror is really important,' Smith says. 'By horror I mainly mean Trump.'
