Cardrona Alpine Resort - Summer
Gondola:
Ride in a gondola cabin on the McDougall's Chondola to the top of the mountain! Running every day of the summer, everyone can experience and explore the incredible alpine environment. You can pop up to the Skyline viewing platform for even better views of the Southern Alps, take a walk back down to Base or go for a more strenuous hike on the Captain's Circuit. If walking's not your thing, you can get back into a gondola cabin & ride back down.
Food:
Grab a bite to eat, a delicious coffee, full lunch meal, craft beer, or a drop from the wine list at The Lounge before you head up the gondola or when you come back down to Base. They've even got outdoor giant games (Jenga, dominoes, quoits!).
Walks:
The main walking trails at Cardrona are:
- Mt Cardrona – Head to the highest point in the resort and experience the full grandeur of the Southern Alps. The track is unformed so sturdy footwear and experience is required (around 2hrs)
- Summit loop - From the top of McDougall's Chondola to the summit lookout (30 mins)
- Captain’s Circuit - Fom the top of the McDougall's Chondola, head out to Captain’s Basin and back (2 – 2.5hrs)
- Ridgeline - From the top of the McDougall's Chondola, the trail heads back down to the Base area, or you can start at the Base area and walk your way up! (30 mins)
Biking:
Cardrona Bike Park offers lift-accessed downhill mountain bike trails for all levels of riders, with experienced bike instructors to help you get in the zone. Lift passes on Cardrona’s extensive mountain bike trail network come in many different options. Passes cover a whole day, a half-day, a late-night Friday or for the season. During summer, kids 5 and under ride free!
Mountain bikes can be rented at Cardrona including free full-face helmet and knee/elbow pad rental.
Mountain Carting:
Experience the thrills when you ride the three-wheeled mountain carts. As the most accessible gravity-fuelled activity, this is the only place in the country you can have a mountain carting experience.
